Jay's Planted 180g Tank.

Your tank looks amazing! Having that driftwood to start your aquascape around makes such a difference. I agree that the moss was kind of standing out before, but in the most recent pics with the stargrass? growing thickly next to it, it blends in much better.

Maybe I missed it somewhere in the thread, but is this a hi-tech with soil set-up, or NPT?

Thanks...

I've tried to make the driftwood the focal point in the tank. This has been my 1st attempt at mineralized top soil. I cleared out most of the right side as the moss became more difficult to manage I just didn't have the patience for it. The stargrass started to choke itself out so I hacked it in hopes to get fresh new growth. I really didn't have a plan so we'll see where it goes. Even though I have MTS I've started dosing with dry ferts after noticing some plants were showing signs of deficiency. The one plant I've always had problems growing was RED java it doesn't die but very slow growth if any.

Awesome tank.
What are you doing to combat the BBA?

I was spot treating (syringe) every other day with peroxide which worked well on the plants but didn't do much for the driftwood, recently I've started dosing with Excel again despite val burning in the past. The plants are almost completely cleared and you can actually see the driftwood where branches were completely covered before. The vals are burning but they usually recover.

Excuse the cloudiness it's clearing up and I haven't had a chance to do a water change to speed things up. Either way it wouldn't do me any good since I keep moving things around.

Left side you can see the drastic change here. I maybe in the market for another piece of driftwood for the left if I can find something that works.

Right side is where most of the height is as it transitions to the left.

This is the view coming in through the door. I don't know if the Cryptocoryne crispatula var. balansae is the long term solution for this corner because it floats another 3 - 4 inches at the surface blocking light.

This is my favorite angle view into the tank it provides the most interest from shrimp in the plants to fish zig zagging through the driftwood.

Here you can see the affects of Excel and peroxide on the bba the limbs and nana petite were covered.

That brings my 180g up todate now I'll try to get the 90g done by the weekend... :thud:

Well I'm pretty sure I'm set on the right side of the tank at least for now. I was going to get in there an split my nana petite to extend my border that may just have to wait until after the holidays. It will depend more on if my blxya bounces back or not going around on the left. I hope to get the vals behind the driftwood against the back wall to reach the top all the way accross toward the crypts. I'm pretty sure my ottos have breed in there in the past.

I need some height on the left to fill in the gaps but I want to keep this as open area as best I can. I'm going to have to be patient let it mature maybe even propagate a little more and see how it looks.

This is such a great tank!! Love all of it!! What is the stem plant in the left corner by the filter tubes that is growing straight up? It looks really cool that way!

I know it as Ammannia sp. 'Bonsai' but here http://www.aquaticplantcentral.com/f...us&spec=Rotala they have it as ROTALA INDICA. This is one of my favorite plants and was disappointed when I lost most of it during the change from the 120g. It has been taking a long time to propagate from about 5 4in stems most of them bare without leaves but I hope to have it as a bush again taking over a lot of the back half we'll see how it goes.

To the left of the intake to short to see right now behind the Blxya Aubertii is stargrass which I hope to grow into a bush back there. It's a quick grower and did well before but it was to close to the front glass. I've always had problems growing java 'red' which is what's in the driftwood. I've had new growth but nothing crazy and considering it's been in there close to the beginning slow would be an understatement...lol
