Jay's Planted 180g Tank.

Wow that is a sweet looking tank, love the anubias and the roots on the right.

Thank you. Yeah the right side and most of the background plants are set just need to grow in to see if any tweaking is needed.

The foreground and the left side of the tank is still in flux.

Very nice tank!
And I have some problems with BBA ... I tried everything (filters cleaned more often), changes in the fertilizing / light / CO2 ... nothing worked) until after all I got to reset ... I cleaned all the gravel to remove dirt. (one of the causes BBA).
Have you recently cleaned gravel?
Or another possibility: under the gravel (new or cleaned) you have fertile substrate exhausted?

Well the good news is I've never had issues with BBA in the past in the last year (hair algae and GSA another is another story) and the only thing I've changed in the 8 weeks is me messing with ferts. I have cleaned the gravel to rid the tank of the mineralized soil that was disturbed during the move (long drawn out process many water changes).

My logic for the cause of BBA was over dosing CSM+B for two weeks went from 1g per week to 9g based on some calculator but that may have been my down fall for my plant mass and since I do water changes every 2 weeks, well the tank was out of balance. What I'm taking as a good sign is that the new growth (having gone down to 2g CSM+B per week will go back down to 1g if necessary) seems to be BBA free and for the moment not spreading on the hard scape. The remaining BBA on the plants I hope just goes as the leaves fall off and/or I cut them off.

I'll keep an eye on it and adjust hoping to get it back to BBA free.

That really came together nicely. There are always so many steps along the way. It can be impossible to see someone else's vision. I find it fun to check this every week or so because it has been such a transition from an old and broken tank plagued with problem after problem and now it is this. Well done.

Thank you for living through this with me :hitting: I know I am not alone when it comes to overcoming the challenges of keeping a planted tank, some pain was self inflected.

I guess some see us as unbalanced :y220d:

Very possible .... too much iron in the water ...

Well I think I'm finally done with the hardscape. I have a couple of driftwood pieces that may or may not make it into the tank.

Right

Middle The one thing I still need to work out is my foreground as you can see from this pic.

Left

FTS - I've given up on the nature look and am just going to enjoy for what it is. I think when as the current plants mature I can do some tweaking there's a couple of plants I'm not crazy about.

Thanks for humoring me =)

I think it loos amazing. I think you got the driftwood "just right"

Thanks, I just realized the pic of the right side has a piece of driftwood wedged that was still floating. I think it all worked out there's enough in there to draw your eye across the whole tank where as before everything was centered to one side. I find myself standing in front of the tank and trying to look around corners...LOL

Oooh, I like the new wood! I think once the c. helferi gets a bit taller it'll be really nice. I also like the red splashes just off center, L & R. I can see some tiny green bits in the center foreground, I forgot what they are...& I'm not seeing the h. pinnatifida where I thought it was, is it the center clump?...what's the biggish horizontal leaved plant, not the hygro is it? It seems too bright green...

Thanks. You nailed it with the Cyperus helferi I definitely need to be patient it already seems to be better than the Vals.

The foreground is the C. parva so it will be a slow process to have it fill in. I'm not sure what the hygro plant is (maybe Hygrophila polysperma I'll check with the donor)it was floating around the tank and got caught on the piece of driftwood for the pic and the H. pinnatifida happens to be behind that. (in the pic of the right side) It's a big leaf plant not sure I want it in the tank I've found a spot for it take up space temporarily so I can leave it in for now.
