this pet shop is far and away the best one for at least 15 miles around, great selection, are always getting new fish in and have a very helpful and friendly staff, prices are good when they have a tank sale or something but they're charging $79.99 for emperor 400s which is a little stiff, but otherwise, i buy everything from them, they even have a club that you can join for $10 per year that gets you 10% off of everything in the store except tanks (it pays for itself quickly)!!!! they also have lots of saltwater fish

favorite Connecticut LFS

Well the first one I will list is the one I frequent the most because it is local. Its a small shop in the first floor of a ladies house. She has been in buissness for 45 years so I think that really says something about the type of place she has. She can be a bit harsh at times. If she doesnt know you then she will ask you questions about your tank and the tank inhabitants. Shes not afraid to not sell you a fish which is very rare these days. The only down side is that this is a smaller store and the selection can be low at times. They have an excellent assortment of rift lake cichlids though.

This next place in my opinion is the best large scale store I have ever been in. There prices arnt that bad and the staff seems to have some what of a clue what they are doing. They also have one of the biggest marine sections in the area.

This is another large store that has lost of tanks and a pretty cool filtration system as well. I have had good luck with all that I have bought from them but the prices can be on the high side.

This last place doesnt always have the cleanest store on earth but they have a decent selction and the staff have all worked there for years and are super helpfull. They also have the absolute best tank prices by far.

they have the best and healthiest selection of plants i have ever seen. and have the CLEANEST store ever. three aisles of tanks make up this place, they have everything from neons, to oddballs like stingrays and aro's and even an asian butterfly fish. they also have a small but nicely kept saltwater selection (i like places that are mostly Fw)

2. hollywood aquariums

mostly sw, but, have a really good sized used tank selection, and the lighting! there fw selection is kept really nicely, they also have some obscure plants and unlike just about anywhere else i go, they have the most knowlegable. and friendliest staff ever. plus they offer tank maintainence and drilling.

Just went here for the first time today, over 100 of the cleanest and well cared for tanks you'll ever see. Helpful employees, locally owned I'm told, and the fish! Best variety I've seen (though very few guppies surprisingly). They also quarintine for atleast 3 days. And they have filtration for all their bettas!

Oh, and where else are you gonna buy 3 neon tetras for $4?

This is a chain pet store, but unlike most chain stores (Petco, Petsmart, etc.), this one actually has quality livestock. I have never seen a dead/sick fish in any of their tanks, they stock tons of rare/oddball fish, and they have great live plants. Wonderful place to shop.

I LOVE these guys Not only do they sell everything for Freshwater & Saltwater Aquariums, there hasnt been a question that these people can't answer Plus the tanks they have on display are breathtaking and to top it off they have not one but TWO ponds in the store the KOI fish they have in one of the ponds (that has a freakin' waterfall) are litterly the size of your forearm if not bigger!!! The Pleco's are HUGE as well 12" easy. They also do Pond, Aquarium, And Custom installations as well as Aquarium Maintenance, Definetly a must see for all the fish lovers in the Greensboro, NC area.
