Starting up Saltwater! Woo!

Yup im certain it's aipstasia.

Hey greech, thanks for taking the time to help me btw :)

Do you think it would be worth it if I bought a Jebo 180 HOB skimmer? I've heard they can be excellent if setup right but terrible if not... So I dunno. Any thoughts?

Well, if its set up right then you should be fine. Stuff usually doesn't work to well if its not set up right though. Personally, I would go with a sump if you can afford it, and put a skimmer in that.

Thanks ff, stupid Australian prices... Lol.

I am very glad I live in PA now :)

Yup im certain it's aipstasia.

Then a peppermint shrimp should take care of it, I had one and literally over the course of 2 days each and every pest nem I had was gone! Even 1 that was twice as big as the shrimp, it was awesome :) Then the shrimp died :( and now then nems are back...

No problem.

Honestly I don't know anything about that skimmer other than the little bit of googling I just did. From the sounds of things I might be intrigued to give it a shot but I might wait and see how the tank does once it has cycled and you get a bit of bioload in there. I saw they were about $40 and was surpised to see it wasn't just an air stone based skimmer. You will have a pretty big pump in your tank though. I also saw there were some videos on youtube showing it working and some that referenced modifications to increase performance but did not watch them. If you have $40 to play with you can try it but unless you plan on overstocking this tank it probably won't be that beneficial when compared to routine WC's. Oh and you may want to research the noise level and overflowing as these are two things that seem to come up when reviewing HOB skimmers.

How was that for a wish-washy answer? :) ? I think i just paved my way into a political career!

I was told not to pick them off... Lol. Awell. Will be buying more LR tomorrow :) around 5kg worth so 12lbs ish. How much is live rock in the states? I'm paying $24 per kilo (2.2lbs)... Lol it seems so expensive.
I'm tellin ya Hay...come for a visit!!!! That or maybe let them know about your connection to the "ACville Mafia"...that otta get em to come down on the prices :FIREdevil:!!

Haha thanks G :)

Yeah I think I will stick with the AC 70 with a fuge for now. Pics when I get the LR today :)

Got around 6KG of LR today.. my lfs was really good and gave me a great price and let me pick out my own rock and look at it etc. So I think I have around 15lbs (your measurement) of LR now. Im not quite sure how much I want but I can defiantley fit more, way more actually... So next pay I might get another 5KGs or so to stack up and towards the back.

They had this really small peice with zoos and another coral I didn't know (ID it?) but they through it in but i'm not sure how it will go, probably not well but the zoos are open which is a decent sign I think :P I put them up high so they get lots of light and flow but i'm almost certain the water parameter swings and changes over the next couple of weeks won't allow them to do well.

I replaced the 6500K bulb with a 10,000K so now I have 2x 10,000K 24W tubes... which will have to do untill I get an atlintic.

The LR has lots of coraline growth and has heaps of life, like feather dusters, sponges, tube worms, snails etc.
I think i've been bitten by the SW bug :help2: lol, this tank amazes me. I can sit and look at all the life for hours on end...

Here are some pics :) :)

Thanks :) goodluck! Start a thread :)

I really like it. The minimalistic aquascape looks great!

For two clowns, zoas and shrooms I feel you have enough rock. If it were me I would look for a rock that you can sort of arch up over the left side of the stucture you have to give it some height but I would keep it open like you have it. Not a fan of rock mounds and walls.

Those are palys/button polyps and can survive really hash conditions. I can't really make out what the green is but the blueish/purple looks like a chalice which is a very nice bounus if that is what it is.

Did this rock come out of a LR bin or an established system. Basically, do you know if the rock is cured? If so, you may not see much of a cycle.

Let us know how the intial water tests go. Doing great so far.
