Starting up Saltwater! Woo!

Well the pH stabalized at 8.2... phew. I know that almost everyone in the states uses RO/DI water.. But everyone here in Canberra uses tap water. It's just not an issue. All the LFS use it, we have a specialist SW coral and fish store here and they use tap water so I think it will be okayMy LFS has 3 beautiful setups, with SPS and they use the same water source so if everything goes alright I will just follow along

I got about 1/2kg of LR so about 1lb? I've already seen tube worms, an orange worm? (I think it's a bristle worm) and apsatia (sp?) I didn't see any at the shop, but awell I've been picking them off with tweezers when they come out of their holes. They are only small though

I really don't think it is a good idea to try and adjust anything at this time. What salt mix are you using?
Ya, don't try and pull aiptasia. Get something like Joe's Juice or AptasiaX or a thick Kalk paste to smother them or inject them with lemon juice and/or boiling water (need a syringe). I find it hard to inject them especially when they are small because they retract so quickly. Some Peppermint shrimp will eat them but it is hit or miss. Aiptasia are just part of the hobby. We all get them, especially when you start up, and you will likely need to keep them in check for the life of the tank. It's no big deal though. I usually have 2 or 3 little ones pop up every week or two but I don;t let them grow or get out of hand in numbers.

I was told not to pick them off... Lol. Awell. Will be buying more LR tomorrow
Are you sure its Apsatia? And don't pick them off, that doesn't work. I recommend a peppermint shrimp, but only when your tank becomes healthy enuff to support one or 2. $24 per kilo! Holy crap, its $5 per lbs here in PA, wonder why its so expensive... Maybe its the kind your getting.
