You know the elephant ears are a DEAD giveaway, LOL

I like fake plants and live plants. I have a mixture of both in my 20 gallon right now! Java Fern is a must.

we have fake pants but why not fake fish?

why hasn't anyone tried an entirely fake tank???????

That would be much easier to maintain...plus you'd save a lot of money. No food, no filtration, don't even need a heater! Even beginners could keep fake discus without a problem. Hmmm...how to market this...

Let's start a buisness.

We can put SW fish and FW fish together for the first time........

various ways i have had my 55 set up with fake plants. with an oscar in there i have no hope in heck of having a live plant! the bottom photo is the current way i have it set up.

plastic plants are the 'Fancy Plant' brand. plastic resin logs are from petsmart (and once they get a lil algae growing on them they look pretty darn close to real, lol)

Just some pics of my 20gal semitropical community tank. A mix of fake and real plants, with lots of algae of various types all over the place, as well as moss. Personally, i think that a combo tank with real plants AND fake plants is a great design, mostly because that way your fish can get all the hiding places without nearly as much maintenance as a planted only tank. And, IMO, even fake plants can be made to look nice. Like if you let your fake plants become covered in moss or hair algae, both of which look nice if you stop to think about it. And both are low maintenance too. BTW, the camera im using gives the water its tinted color, and makes the tank look worse then it is. In reality, the water is crystal clear and in great condition. So are the fish.
