    WHY IS MY WATER BROWN???

yep its most def because of the lighting. Try testing for phosphates and nitrates. If you do have phosphates, you could buy the phosban stuff from ur lfs. If that doesn't clear it up, how long do you have the lights on? Since u upgraded ur lighting, u dont need to have long hours. What I did was...

Does my bum look big in this??

uhh honestly, I think that your mandarin is getting some lweft over food in the back of the tan. I dont think that a mandarin would get that obese just from pods!!! wow!!! anyways, i think that there is nothing to worry about if you dont overfeed your tank. I think that he or she will pace...

    feeding a sun coral

today I just purchased a new sunclral. After acclimating to my tank, it opened up right away. So i decided to feed it. I fed each polyp individualy, but they kept on opening up again. So my question is, how will I know when to stop feeding it? Also, when I went to the lfs, I saw a dendro. I...

    Chromis

Yeah i would stick with about 5 to 6 chromises. eight will be a little too many. I have seen some pretty big ones at my lfs so you are better off with 5 to 6. also you should stock your tank in this order: goby, yellow tang, the two perculas (at the same time), and finally the six line wrasse...

    dendrophylia v.s. sun coral

Hi I was planning on buying a suncoral, but i also heard opf dendrophylias. Biocube 8 water flow question

since that is a pretty small tank, the tank filter would probalby just do fine. but if you see some red slime or some diatoms, that may mean that you need more circulation. You dont want that much flow in a tank because it will basically turn into a jaccussi type thing and it will damage your...

    diamond goby recovery

About two days ago my diamond goby had ragged fins. I asked the local fish store to see if he had fin rot. They told me that I had nothing to worry abt because it was not cloudy or white. So I decided to wait for a couple of days and to my surprise, he completly recovered after one day! Is this...

    bristleworms attacking a goby?

hmm... Well I definetly see bristleworms because they don't have any antennas on them. So maybe he has fin rot... Oh no! If he does have fin rot, what should I do? I have a reef tank so I can't put that many chemicals in there.. Also I don't have a quarantine because I don't have the money for...

    bristleworms attacking a goby?

today when I went to go feed my tank, I noticed that my diamond goby had ragged tail fins. This happened overnight, and I dont have any tank mates that would pick or nip fins. I have one skunk cleaner shrimp and a firefish. Thats it. also the goby seems to be very jumpy at night. when no one is...

Disaster ! What do you think would happen

Okay if the water temp got down that much, I would expect one fish dead but with most of them alive. Also since the metabolism gets slow.... I guess that there was no ammonia no nitrite but with a higher nitrate reading. Maybe like at around 30 if it already had 20. I'm a newbie so I might be off.

    irresponsible fishkeepers part 2: helping

well I don't think that he is into fish keeping so much that he would come here... But I'll give it a try to see if he will. And I'm pretty sure he doesn't have a disorder. He's just spoiled rotten by his parents. He basically gets anything he wants even if he is killing all of these fish.
