    Is it OK to put old decorations in new tank?

    ...only problem I can thnk of is if you're trying to avoid snails in the new tank and you transfer them (or their eggs) with the wood.

    New tank / platform ideas?

    That's interesting - I have had the same problem, but when I spoke to my local hardware, who are pretty savvy, they didn't think the acrylic would be the problem. I ended up chalking it up to my bad technique. This is after watching my DIY external filter explode in front of me, five minutes...

    Some brands will actually aquarium-safe on the tube. (or they do here.)

    New tank / platform ideas?

    Thanks for all the suggestions guys. I liked _Ty_'s idea, but then I also really like the stuff on the Riparium site, although I would probably want to DIY something similar. Their tanks photos look great, although I'm not sure my plants will grow well enough to carry that look off. Still...

    New tank / platform ideas?

    [Re-posting this thread in this forum, where it makes more sense.] This is my 'new' Aqua Vital 620T. I'm not a huge fan of these tanks, but I was swayed because it was a cheap second-hand (Gumtree) pick-up which came with a big Eheim filter and heaps of extra stuff. It's in great condition...

    Do fish really stop growing if kept in a small tank?

    Thanks for making this point, as I see this idea repeated over and over, but have never seen any evidence for it. I would condemn keeping fish in too-small tanks, but I also condemn spreading misinformation, if that's what it is, even if it's well-meaning.

    A Fungus Amongus!

    First of all, great thread title. Second, http://www.aquariacentral.com/forums/showthread.php?t=204352 Third, there is no third. Fourth, I'm not quite clear on whether the fungi are growing abaove the waterline or below, but either way, I don't see them being a problem; I think it's cool. I...

    Tahitian Moon Sand is probably the best-looking black substrate, but it's not cheap.

    shrimp = swimmers?

    Yes, they swim around with their 'swimming' legs (the ones females use to hold eggs), as well as walking on hard surfaces. They also have a special escape reaction which allows them to thrust suddenly backwards through the water.
