Had a choc chip starfish for the weekend. So awesome, but had to give him away.
Moved heater/Therm Probe into back sump area. Removed a small LR that got covered in brown algae due to moving my pump outlets and creating a major dead spot. It's in the rubbermaid of stand-by saltwater with no lights and major flow...
It was nice though. My clown was swimming front and center when I had it like that.... Now he likes the back left, which is fine b/c I can see him from my computer desk heh. I need something different though. I got a bare spot in the sand from the current, and 160gph is a bit for 12gal. My clown swam past the stream once and got slammed into that big rock. I saw this thing at That Fish Place that goes all across the water is has lots of small nozzles. Whatcha call that? I think it'd help.
had same joints as those things that came with it. they said they're in the back and are like $30ish. LFS had that hydor flo so i'm gonna try it out. hopefully it's good - it was $20. scarlet skunk is $18 from him, $30 at That Fish Place... yea i bought him... I'm gonna see about turning that small rock into rumble today if my roommate has a hammer or something...
saw another feather duster. i think i'll have a nice colony of them eventually. they're very small brown tubes and the duster is purple. very small.
broke the small LR and put it in filter. installed hydor FLO!
i think i like it. it's dynamic instead of static flow... don't remember the correct terms. and it's not so strong in 1 area so it shouldn't throw clownfish into rocks anymore. he really needs a name. only the hermits have names b/c they were the first pets. it's childish, i know, but i got kids so that's my excuse.....
hydor flo makes nice waves that gave my fish more freedom i think. but it kept too much detritus on my LR. went back to supplied things, minus a few links. we'll see how that does. thinking of moving rocks and putting AquaClear 301 in the bottom back for some movement across the sand. Is 160gph submersible in filter and 170gph too much for 12gal? i just see water movement as my biggest problem now. how to keep things from turning brown overnight. i am wiping my glass everyday and stirring the sand too! will this subside after more water changes with RO? i really set myself up for problems starting with tap.
