This worries me...a lot.

Him being new has no bearing on the role, except for the likelihood that Ice wouldn't make him a boss. But the fact that you already picked him out as not mafia, after less than a day, is concerning.

rich, I agree the FF1 is a newbie having fun. I see nothing in his actions to see mafia or not mafia, really if anything a newbie might be more active if mafia than innocent. I don't think FF1 is the mayor (or any role for that matter), but I don't have them leaning innocent.

Also with TRS being innocent, the odds are up that FF1 is mafia. Break out your abacus on that one.

Good points. i had not really considered that. When I was a fairly new player and Rbs assistant maniac I was not sure how to play either. i believe I was quite quiet. I will think some more on this. After all i am trying to set him up.

You work in either a clinical, educational, or scientific industry for a living... I believe, yes? And yet, you played a long shot like that (the term 'hail mary' comes to mind)... expecting you might "sort out" someone you believed was being random? Random in a disconnected or arbitrary sense, that is.

Maybe you could explain your concept of random a little better for me then. Your version of random seems to be more SORT-able than mine is. Perhaps yours has some underlying structure running through it or some kind of framework underneath it, or something like that -- rather than being just... well, random? :huh:

It struck me as odd, Lab, because it "felt" more like a little play acting on your part.... for appearance sake. You know.. like when a mafia player "pretends" to (how did you phrase that?)... "kick bushes that have scummy noobs hiding in them."

I don't seriously believe you were trying to accomplish anything at all other than put on an appearance of helping the town... at that particular moment. And I consider that being a wee bit scummy in itself.

Yes, a combination of clinical pharmacy and research...it was a risk/benefit move, weighing the risk of the treatment (move) to the benefit of the treatment. Zero risk to throw that out there (at least that I could tell) with a chance of benefit that he would (slim chance) admit to communicating OR would react in a squirmy way. I got my squirmy reaction (which could be noob reaction, but I'm thinking it's noob reaction who has a mafia role). With zero risk there is no reason not to try for slim/possibly moderate benefit. Still can't see why that is odd and not sure how that puts on an "appearance of helping the town".

Not sure what you mean about my structure of random. I've simply pointed out the odds of any one of us being a particular role. I did not take into account the chances of Ice picking a total noob for the PRs of mayor/don. That is a flaw but accounting for those confounding variables (and it seems to be arbitrary as to the number of players that Ice may feel would be good for those roles; I don't think anyone can know which players he would feel comfortable assigning those roles to, though I do believe it's fairly safe to assume they would not go to a total noob) would just make things more confusing and muddy the waters. That was not my goal, my goal was to illustrate how the odds of a random vote are not against the town and that voting for a noob has the same likelihood of lynching scum as if a more experienced player were voted. In most other formats, when it's a 25% scum to 75% innocent split, lynching a noob would favor lynching an innocent. Not so in the 50/50 format.

Feel free to scrutinize my posts, I welcome it. I have nothing to hide, just doing my best to kick bushes (though I may have gotten too focused on FF, I need to expand my bush kicking since there are 8 scum out there to find).

as far as ive seen it there is a 6/16 chance of hitting the mafia if we just vote randomly a 2/16 chance of hitting a boss and 1/16 chance of hitting the mafia don. Not very good odds if i say so myself.

u need to take out the bosses. 1/2 chance of hitting the other team 1/16 chance of winning, 1/16 chance of losing, a 7/14 chance of hitting other team 7/14 chance of hitting a team member, 2/16 chance of hitting hitman/police guy, 4/16 chance of hitting boss or hitman for other team.

I don't like how FF has now started to follow JB, especially after JB "defended" his noobness yesterday.

I wasn't trying to defend so much as say that I see FF's play as being more noob than scum. I understand how it looks that way though. Am I gonna have to get my high-tops on to protect my ankles? :silly:
