Was a good day for deer hunting.

I don't see how hunting can be called sport. It was stated before that the good part of hunting is "the hunt it self", not the killing. Well, go to the woods, follw the deers, run after them, and after you have "hunted" them enough, don't kill them. Or if the hunter needs to prove he killed them, shoot him a paint ball. The same great assasination (sp¿?) feeling, no dead animal.

I just don't get how you can feel proud to be killing an animal.

oooh this is getting silly... All the anit-hunting types are jacking this thread...You want to debate hunting, start another thread or go to another forum.. Deer are in NO WAY in danger of being extinct.. Same thing with Black Bears that are increadinly becoming a problem here... The spring Bear hunt was nixed NOW they are comming into populated towns.. Skinny and miserable..If you are lucky they will just eat your garbage..unlucky they will eat your cat or kid. They end up being shot by the Ministry anyway.

Deer are existing in alarming numbers these days..A few years back I counted 23 carcasses on the hwy between JFk airport and Poughkeepsie NY. "just" hitting a dear can be a fatal encounter. If you drive a small or low car, they come right through the windshield...Motorcycle-you dont want to know...

Anymore good deer recipes???

Live and let live...I personally see humans as being on top of the food chain, and as such we have a natural "right" to kill and eat whatever we want...

But we're also one of the smartest creatures on this planet, and able to understand (on most levels) what impact our actions have on our environment. We should use this knowledge to conserve it so it'll be there for the continuation of mankind.

There's generally nothing wrong with killing disease carrying rodents and insects in our homes and around our cities. Deer overpopulation is not only a risk to themselves, but also a risk to man. Hunting for food and to keep the population in a realistic balance isn't "wrong," even if we are forced to do so because their predators have been eliminated in the past due to human interference.

Life on a planet is like fish in a tank...it's a delicate balance and we're the often the only ones left to keep it.

Note: I condone hunting when the dead animals will go to some use other then fertilizer. Feed a family, or feed the homeless with a few extra deer, use the skin for leathers and the bones for artistic handles or what-not, and keep the balance.

Well, I do actually donate about 40 deer a year to churches to help families. There is no need to argue any point on whether or not hunting is okay. Your either with it or against it. There are good points on both sides.

That post made so much sense that I've decided to trade my rifle in for a paintball gun. After painting the deer with my new weapon I will go to the supermarket and buy some nice healthy high cholesterol hormone-injected beef

On the other side of this, is it's scary people actually believe that.

Well, I see you all have strong points defending the hunting activity. I was expressing myself too. Didn't mean to start an agression follow up, nor be asked to go to another forum.

Sorry for hijacking this thread.

I love it. That's too funny. I honestly have never met a hunter to didn't eat what they shot, or at least gave it to someone who would eat it. Obviously we no longer have to hunt to have meat, but IMHO if you're not going to eat it, don't shoot it. Also, around here they don't exactly sell wild game meat at the grocery store, so if you like to eat venison, or dove, or wild pig you're going to have to go out and shoot some.
